Lenovo launches Windows based Yoga Tablet 2, Thinkpad Yoga

Lenovo has announced a new laptop that integrates the distinctive 360 degree rotation mode of the consumer-focused Yoga family. It is a business laptop which is a Windows based Yoga Tablet 2 which is called Thinkpad Yoga.

It is a twin-hinge model, unlike Yoga 3 Pro's hexa-hinge and  keeps the Lift 'n' Lock keyboard from the original ThinkPad Yoga from 2013.

Yoga Tablet 2 comes with Intel Core-i5 processor with 8GB DDR3L RAM, 1TB Hard Disk, 16GB SSD cache and up to 8 hours of battery life. It also comes with 1GB Nvidia 840M graphics card for smooth graphics performance and a 14-inch full HD IPS touchscreen display.

It is not as thin or slim as Yoga Pro 3, but still, Lenovo's new flagship laptop, Thinkpad Yoga, can be called an ultrabook. It weighs 1.9 kg and is 20 mm thick, thus, it sits at the heavier end of the ultrabook spectrum.

As far as the connectivity is concerned, Yoga Tablet 2 comes with Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, HDMI, a card reader, two USB 3.0 ports and a HD camera.

Lenovo also introduced a pair of Yoga tablets that run on Windows 8.1, with the only difference in their screen display. The smaller one with 8-inch display, while the bigger spans 10.1 inches. Both have full HD IPS display with touchscreen capabilities.

Both of them run on Intel Atom processors, the Z3745, having 4 cores, 2 MB of cache, runs at up to 1.86 GHz. It also have 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard memory with a microSD memory card slot. It also has a pair of front-facing speakers, a microUSB slot, a micro sim slot and a WiFi.

It has a 8MP primary back camera with a 1.6MP secondary front snapper. Lenovo claims that it has a battery life of up to 15 hours on a single charge. The 10 inch model also packs a micro HDMI port and a matching Bluetooth AccuType keyboard that doubles as a cover.

The Yoga Tablet 2 will cost $399.99 for the 10-inch model (£249, AU$456) and $299.99 for the 8-inch model (£187, AU$342).  The Thinkpad Yoga will hit the market with a price of $1199 (£746, AU$1347).
